Marvin careers

Marvin began in 1912 as the Marvin Lumber and Cedar Company, George Marvin's venture in the northern Minnesota town of Warroad, and the family still owns and leads it. The pivot that made the company came in the 1940s, and it's a good story: George's son Bill, convinced that Warroad's returning veterans would leave without manufacturing jobs to come home to, bought top-of-the-line woodworking equipment over his father's objections and moved it in while George was out of town, cutting a hole in the wall to fit it through. Windows and doors have been the family business ever since, made to order rather than made to stock.

Today the fourth generation runs the company, with Paul Marvin as CEO and chair and fifth-generation family members already working in the business. More than 8,000 employees build made-to-order windows and doors, and the footprint has grown from Warroad into North Dakota, Oregon, Tennessee, Virginia, Florida, Iowa, and Colorado. The headquarters commitment hasn't moved in more than 110 years, through the fires and recessions the company's own history recounts. A manufacturer that still names its leaders by generation tells you the culture up front: continuity is the point, and Warroad remains the center of an operation with national reach.
