The Michigan Lottery was established under the authority of Public Act 239 of 1972 to generate funds to support Michigan’s public-school system and generates revenue through the sale of Lottery tickets at retail locations and over the internet. Profits from lottery revenue are used to supplement state education programs.
The experienced-level Sales Trainer will coordinate and implement the Michigan State Lottery (MSL) Sales Division training program, developing program materials and resource information to enhance the skills, knowledge and performance of the Sales team, including Claim Center staff. This position will develop and conduct assessment techniques to determine training needs and assist in implementing and evaluating the training program, perform research and analysis to identify emerging trends and best practices, and develop initiatives for training techniques. This position will analyze on-going training program operations, recommend program policies, procedures and new initiatives and design training materials. This position will conduct retail field visits to evaluate and identify areas of improvement among retail visibility, accessibility, merchandising quality and staff engagement. The position will develop an audit checklist and survey questionnaire and analyze audit results to assist in creating training materials.
Experienced-level Position Description
The advanced-level Sales Trainer serves as the recognized resource responsible for the establishment, administration and evaluation of the Michigan State Lottery (MSL) Sales Division training program, developing comprehensive program plans and materials, and evaluating and researching training records, topics, products, and testing and assessment protocols to enhance the skills, knowledge and performance of the Sales team, including Claim Center staff. This position will provide oversight and guidance regarding new products, promotions, initiatives, industry trends and best practices and will serve as technical advisor as it relates to training, administrative and/or operational issues. The position will develop and conduct assessment techniques to determine training needs and assist in implementing and evaluating the training program, perform research and analysis to identify emerging trends and best practices, and develop initiatives for training techniques. This position will analyze on-going training program operations, recommend program policies and procedures and develop detail reports to present information to Executive staff regarding program effectiveness, deficiencies, industry developments and new initiatives. This position will develop and implement a training audit process and procedures to evaluate and identify opportunities for improvement among retail visibility, accessibility, merchandising quality and staff engagement. The position will provide technical guidance to correct issues and make recommendations for improvements based on observation of practical application of training initiatives.

Two years of professional experience in planning, developing, conducting, or evaluating staff development, training, or other programs equivalent to a Human Resources Developer, including one year equivalent to a Human Resources Developer 10.
Human Resource Developer 12
Three years of professional experience in planning, developing, conducting, or evaluating staff development, training, or other programs equivalent to a Human Resources Developer, including one year equivalent to a Human Resources Developer P11.Human Resources Developer 9 - 12
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.To be considered for this position, you must submit to the following initial background check requirement(s). In accordance with Civil Service Regulation 2.07, you may be sanctioned from applying to positions with the State of Michigan, permanently or up to (3) three years, should you fail to pass/submit to the pre-employment drug test. Under Civil Service Regulation 3.06, you may be sanctioned from applying to positions with the State of Michigan, if you make any false statements or omissions of a material fact during the selection process. Civil Service Rule 2-7 requires that all persons who are not currently state employees submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test. This urine sample test must be administered within 24 hours, or your offer may be rescinded. An applicant must remain at the testing site until the testing process is completed and permitted up to 3 hours to provide a sufficient specimen. It is considered a refusal to test if an applicant fails to provide a sufficient amount of urine for a drug test within the allowed time. Positions within the Bureau of State Lottery will require a criminal history background check.
