Human Resources Specialist (Current Gadsden ISD Employees Only)

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to facilitate the efficient operation of the Human Resources Department.
Other duties may be assigned.
Complies with the state approved Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and upholds and enforces department/unit procedures, administrative directives and state statutes concerning the confidentiality of all staff information.
All functions are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety and computer security regulations.
Calls and extends job offers to potential employees.
Promotes positive community relations through effective communication with prospective employees, Gadsden Independent School Employees, and community members.
Provides candidates with necessary information about their roles and next steps in the onboarding process.
Emails the administrators to inform them of a new hire's acceptance or decline.
Sends a follow-up email to administrators once the new hire is clear through the background check to include the new hire's start date.
Emails applicants to notify them that the position has been filled.
Acts as a liaison between new hires and various departments to ensure smooth onboarding.
Refers new hires to the background specialist for necessary checks and follow up on the results.
Inputs new hire information into the employee changes spreadsheet to facilitate the creation of district accounts by departments.
Maintains accurate and up-to-date records in the employee database.
Creates employee personnel files, ensuring the application, attachments and background check results are included.
Ensures compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
Sends the onboarding checklist through the recruitment platform to the new hires.
Contacts new hires to schedule for Payroll & Benefits Orientation.
Works closely with Recruitment Specialists and other team members to ensure a seamless onboarding experience.
Provides documentation and forms necessary to conduct the mandatory training for employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Demonstrates oral and reading proficiency in English; demonstrates ability in secretarial/clerical skills to include word processing; experience in secretarial/clerical work
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the area of office clerical
Bilingual (Spanish/English)
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, and maintain instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to employees. Working knowledge of business English, and Spelling.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percents, ratios, rate, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
