A generalist in Illinois has two very different commutes to choose from. Chicago and the western suburbs around Downers Grove and Schiller Park hold the corporate headquarters, hospital systems such as Northwestern Medicine and Advocate Health, the American Medical Association, and the staffing firms that cycle contract HR positions through the Loop. Downstate, the federal side is anchored by Scott Air Force Base near Belleville, home to U.S. Transportation Command, and by Naval Station Great Lakes north of the city.
